leather + plaid + sparkle

{the Fit} c/o Target plaid top, BCBG MaxAzria leather pants, Zara heels, Zara hat, c/o Target necklace, c/o Limited Edition Target clutch

Three necessities for the holiday season: leather, plaid, and sparkle . The theme for this #TargetStyle post is “what you would wear to a Holiday party,” and I wanted to step away from the usual sequins and dresses and flouncy skirts outfit. So this is something I would wear to a more causal holiday party at a friend’s house or a trendy restaurant. If you just aren’t in the mood to pull on a pair of tights for the night, swap that bottom-half with some nice leather pants. Investing in a good pair of leather pants is worth it so they don’t have that cheap look (nothing is worse than cheap looking faux leather) and they are also ideal for the fall/winter because they are surprisingly warm.

As for the plaid and sparkle part of the outfit, Target’s got you covered. I bought four plaid shirts including this one (all listed below) and in various sizes. As another tip, I like a slimmer fit when wearing with a skirt so it tucks in easier and shows off the waistline and then a loose fit for the causal days when wearing with jeans and a jacket. (Shirt I’m wearing here is a Small.) Lastly, this necklace is perfection for the holiday season, I wore it here and in many of my #ootd shots on Instagram. I kept my makeup to a minimum for this look, some eyeliner and a natural pink lip. It is getting mighty cold out, but I am SO excited for the holidays. Have a merry Monday!

Note: I’ve been asked by a number of followers about outfits I post via Instagram (since they are not always on the blog), so I will try to be better at letting you know the brands I’m wearing! And in case you aren’t following yet, check out what I wear daily on Insta (StyleontheLine).

Loving the slouchy look of the ripped jeans and over-sized jacket.

When layering (and weather permits), pair your outfit with open-toed heels for a sexier look. Coordinate your lip color with a similar palette present in your outfit. I loved the orangey-red in the Indian graphic and also on the lining of my jacket so went with that, but you could also choose a softer pink shade. Below are some other sweet options similar to this look!

I am definitely not a beauty blogger, actually not really a beauty anything (my friends have insisted on putting makeup on me since the 6th grade)… but when Target rounded up some of its best beauty essentials, I had to give them a try! Hence the beauty session in my bathroom…

Metallics are best for holidays in my opinion. During the snowy winters, its always nice to add a bit of shimmer to your look… and you can never have enough shimmer/glitter when it comes to holiday parties! So for this Fit, I wanted to keep the colors neutral (black, white, greys) with this tunic and a pair of leggings with booties. Then add some grey shimmer to the eyes and the pop of color in the lips. Though you all know I am a big fan of the bright red lip, I felt it would have been too much with this look so chose a more berry-plum color (Revlon super Lustrous lipstick in Black Cherry to be exact).

No judging on the photos, it’s awkward having pictures taken while putting makeup on! :)

Hope everyone is staying warm, it’s getting so cold here in the Windy City! xoxo
