Double Plaid

{the Fit} Urban Outfitters cape (similar cape), Zara plaid top (similar), Splendid leggings, Alexander Wang rocco bag, Steven by Steve Madden booties (in black leather here)

We have been on a little vacation for the holidays this year: first to Steamboat Springs, Colorado for a week in the gorgeous snow and then headed to slightly higher temps in New Mexico for Christmas with my hub’s family and then trekking back across the country with a stop in Nashville(!) on our way home to Chicago. Serious roadtripping this season and I love it!

We snapped these shots in my neighborhood before leaving and I really like this plaid-on-plaid combo. Basically I am looking for every opportunity to buy more plaid this season, I can’t get enough! Though there has been a lot of hype around mixing prints in the season past (which I also love), I really have enjoyed mixing the same prints this season. By mixing the same prints, I mean different stripes-on-strips or mixing polka dots, etc. You really can’t go wrong.

Hope you all are having a safe and fun holiday season so far! I cannot believe it is only three days until Christmas! But I will have you all know that I have not suffered from LMSS this season. Shopping is 100% done and now onto the wrapping!

On the Water

{the Fit} Cardigan and jeans c/o Target, Kain top (similar), Revlon ‘Ravish Me Red’ lipstick, booties c/o ShoeMint, glasses c/o Warby Parker

I was so incredibly honored to be chosen as one of six bloggers to be a part of Target’s national ad campaign, guys, I am going to be on Target ads! Weird! I will share as soon as I get to see them, so stay tuned. :)

For this beauty look with Target, I went with my go-to red lip which is an easy and perfect shade for the holiday season. My general rule with makeup (though I am by no means a beauty expert), is to keep a nice balance. Choose one feature you want to shine for the night. For instance, when I do a bold lip I keep my eyes neutral or if you are going for a smokey eye or cat eye, use a more nude or light pink color for the lips. That way one feature really pops. For this shoot, since I did a bold lip, I used neutral browns and a bit of shimmer on the eyes. What are your favorite makeup tips or trends you love for the holidays? I want to start taking more “beauty risks” and would love your input!

How many of you do this at parties too? Don’t lie!

Forever Fall

{the Fit} jacket, pants, scarf (in stores soon), bag c/o Target, StyleMint top, Warby Parker c/o, Zara shoes (old)

We did this shoot while there were still leaves on the trees (sigh)…

Now I’m surviving below zeros temps with a windchill with a vengeance. The last two winters in Chicago were what we call “mild” so we are definitely due for a doosey and I think this year is it. On the contrary, if you are planning any fun vacays for the holiday season to warmer climates, you can pick up some of these nautical accents starting December 15, the scarf is one of my faves and would be perfect seaside with a swim suit and hat, #dreaming. This nautical look is soon to come in stores, but the jacket is available now and a great layering piece as I’m sure you’ve gathered from previous posts. ;)

As for me, I am hitting the ski slopes and heading to Colorado with my hubs and our pup. Roadtrip! Be sure to follow on Insta and I’l be posting more outfits over the break as well. Cheers to that!
